BANQUET Austintown Lions, Lioness clubs hold installation

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Austintown Lions and Lioness clubs held their annual installation of officers and banquet June 18 at the Saxon Club of Youngstown with Larry Jensen, king lion, presiding.
Installing officers were Robert Booher, deputy district governor-elect, of the Canal Fulton Lions Club.
Seated: William Kurta was installed as Lions president. He is retired from Youngstown Waste Water Treatment. He and his wife, Louise, have six adult children.
His associate officers are Bob Melcher, first vice president; Bill Sywy, second vice president; Frank Fabrizio, third vice president; Ed Lewis, secretary; Gary Cronenwett, treasurer; Perry Ring, tail twister; John Janca, lion tamer; Jack Kochansky and Bob Whited, two-year directors; Jim Donnan and John Susany, one-year directors; Ray Rogers, membership chairman; and Jensen, immediate past president and Lioness liaison.
Lori Stone was installed as president of the Lioness Club. She is a chief master sergeant at Youngstown Air Reserve Base and has two daughters.
Serving with her will be Joyce Gunter, vice president; Theresa McCallen, secretary; Eleanor Jensen, treasurer; and Kitty Fabrizio, tail twister.
Awards: David Hicks received a Melvin Jones Fellowship, which recognizes humanitarian service and is the highest award a Lion can receive. Robert Orwell, who died in December, received the award posthumously. It was accepted by his wife, Karen, and sons Eric and Jason. Dwain Hawkins of the New Waterford Lions Club and Lions Club International Foundation chairman past district governor, presented awards.
Kurta presented Jensen a plaque commemorating his year as king lion.
