Youngstown center to offer health fair at open house

Free health screenings and blood sugar and blood pressure tests will be available.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Community Health Center will have its annual open house and community health fair from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at its offices at 726 Wick Ave., next to Ursuline High School.
YCHC, a nonprofit, community-based health care organization funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and community donations, provides medical and dental services to the underinsured and uninsured, said Renee Benson, pediatric clinical coordinator.
YCHC provides health care in pediatrics, adult medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and child and adult dentistry.
It accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most private commercial health insurance plans. A sliding-fee scale based on income and family size is available for the uninsured, she said.
Activities planned: Health fair activities will include free screenings for asthma, diabetes and speech and hearing, along with blood sugar and blood pressure checks.
Several area organizations will provide refreshments and health information.
