Babe Ruth (age 14-15)
Youngstown Express 15, Astro Falcons 4 -- Mike Eliseo singled twice and had three RBIs, and John Foty went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Dom Modarelli also went 3-for-4. Adam Zakowski was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits. Ryan Betts and Mike Scurti had two hits each for Astros.
Babe Ruth (age 13)
Astro Falcons 8, Sluggers 4 -- Don Stanovac doubled twice while Jeff Rupert had a single and a double.Youngstown Express 10, EMS Plumbing 0 -- Jared Bartholomew was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits. Mark Rossi and Josh Crum led Express with two hits each; one of Crum's was a triple.
Tri-T Pony (age 13-14)
David's Heating 12, GF Insulation 9 -- Michael Hallock and Mike Swoboda each had three hits. For GF, Nate Tacsik had two hits including a homer.Acordia Insurance 11, Columbiana Sports 5 -- Bobby Granchie and Matt Kotovch each went 3-for-3. For Columbiana, Anthony Danko had two hits and Tommy Dechellis doubled.Canfield Anthem 6, Austintown Landmark 5 -- Tom Ivany's base hit drove in Kyle Schuchler with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. For Austintown, Brian Hritz had two hits.Poland David's Heating 11, Niles Dunnigan Photo 4 -- Ryan Sidell pitched a five-hitter. Mike Hallock, Rob Fuller and Mike Swoboda had two hits each. Pat Fortune had two hits, including a double, for Dunnigan's.
Tri-T Colt (age 15-18)
Lukanec 12, Youngs 1 -- Bob Barney threw a two-hitter with seven strike outs while Chris Mountain doubled and singled.
SOFTBALL
12-younger
Valley Sting Purple team qualified to play in the ASA national tournament in Garland, Texas, after placing second in the East Central Regional in Akron. The Sting beat: Lady Lazers 11, 10-2; Sylvania Sharks, 11-1; Maddogs, 9-7; and Lady Lazers 12, 2-1. They lost to the Lady Lazers 12 in the title match. The team is 35-12.
