14-year-olds injured after crashing car

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 14-year-old East Boston Avenue boy who crashed a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier into a tree on East Florida Avenue at a high rate of speed Monday afternoon has been cited for reckless operation, no driver's license and failure to maintain reasonable control.
He and his passenger, another 14-year-old boy, were injured in the South Side crash and taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.
Police cited the driver's cousin, Tanika Mitchell, 22, of Berwick Avenue, for endangering children and allowing a minor to operate a vehicle. Mitchell told police that the boy was only supposed to move the car from the driveway of her aunt's house to the street.
Instead, he drove off.
