KOREA REVISIT
Program begun by the Korean Veterans Association in 1975, the 25th anniversary of the Korean War.
Korean War veterans and war correspondents who served in the Republic of Korea between June 25, 1950, and July 27, 1953, are eligible to participate with spouses, sons and daughters, as well as family members of those killed in action.
YOUNGSTOWN PARTICIPANTS
Youngstown veterans who were in Korea from May 14 to May 19 were:
Charles Stepan, 69, of 175 Erskine Ave., was in Korea in 1951. He was a member of the Korean Military Advisory Group and a tactical adviser with the Republic of Korea Army.
Robert Bakalik, 69, of 2841 S. Schenley Ave., was in Korea in 1952. He rose from private 1st class to staff sergeant and was motor sergeant in the Army's 140th Tank Battalion, 40th Infantry.
Richard Koker, 68, of 508 Moherman Ave., was in Korea during 1952 and 1953. He was a cook in the Army's 171st Field Artillery, 45th Division.
Bakalik, Koker and Stepan and his wife, Mary, were among about 30 other former United States military personnel and family members from around the country who were flown to Korea on South Korean Airlines.
ITINERARY
Tour of Seoul and its vicinity
Visits to Panmunjom, North Korean Invasion Tunnel No. 3, War Memorial Monument, National Cemetery, National Museum, Korean War Museum and other cultural and industrial facilities and activities in the Seoul area.
Reception and dinner sponsored by the president of the Korean Veterans Association, during which the Korean War Medal and Certificate of Ambassador for Peace was awarded to each veteran.
