LAWYERS
Mooney graduate
Danny R. Kraft Jr., son of Danny and Cynthia Kraft of Youngstown, has earning his juris doctorate degree from Emory University in Atlanta.
Kraft is a 1992 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School.
He earned his bachelor's degree in pre-professional studies in 1996 from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Team. He was commended for outstanding performance in the Keppler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program and was selected as a member of the Emory Order of Advocates.
He will be working as an assistant district attorney in Bronx, N.Y.
From Liberty
Lisa N. Khoury, daughter of Tony and Terry Khoury of Liberty, has earned her master's in public administration and juris doctorate degrees from the University of Akron School of Law.
Khoury graduated from Liberty High School in 1993 and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University in 1998.
While at KSU, she was accepted into the Golden Key National Honor Society. She graduated cum laude.
Khoury has accepted a position with the law firm of Pepple & amp; Wagner in Independence, Ohio, and will be working in the area of school law.
HONORS
Youngstown native
Ohio Attorney General Betty D. Montgomery presented Dan Malkoff, Gahanna resident and Youngstown native, with the office's 2001 Simon B. Karas Award.
The award recognizes an assistant attorney general who best exemplifies Karas' legacy of professionalism, legal acumen and dedication to public service. The award honors the former deputy chief counsel, who served under four attorneys general more than 26 years and died in 1998.
Malkoff, a graduate of Miami University and the University of Toledo College of Law, serves as chief of the AG office's court of claims defense section.
He has been with the office since 1988. Malkoff has served as an assistant attorney general in the court of claims defense section, assistant chief in the business and government regulations section, and chief of the transportation section.
DOCTORS
Ex-Warren resident
Diane M. Pierson, formerly of Warren, has graduated with a degree in osteopathic medicine from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, Mo.
She is a graduate of McDonald High School and Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing and has a combined bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degree from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash.
Pierson did a pathology fellowship at the University of Missouri and will be starting a pathology residency program at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., in July.
She is the daughter of Jack and Margaret Pierson, formerly of McDonald.
