St. Elizabeth and St. Joseph health centers will have Flashback to the '50s blood drives Tuesday and Friday, in Youngstown and Warren, respectively. Music and movies from the '50s will be playing throughout the day and participants will be offered root beer and gifts and will be registered in a drawing for tickets for a Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball game. Pediatric cardiac clinic
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health Department will offer a pediatric cardiac clinic July 6 at the health department, 7360 state Route 45, Lisbon. A pediatric cardiologist from the Children's Hospital Medical Center, Akron, will examine any child up to the age of 21 years who has a possible heart or circulatory problem at no charge. Doctors, nurses, teachers, parents or grandparents may refer a child to the clinic and schedule an appointment by calling (330) 424-0272.
MERP drop-off sites
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Medical Equipment Recycling Program (MERP) of UPMC Horizon has established a drop-off site in Greenville on the second floor of the Good Shepherd Center which is staffed from 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays, or by appointment. MERP is also seeking a drop-off site in Grove City. The sites are funded by grants from the Northern Mercer County and Grove City United Way. Also, volunteers to staff the new sites and the one in Sharon are needed.
MERP accepts donated durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers and shower chairs, which it rehabilitates and makes available at no charge to people who lack financial means and/or insurance coverage. Currently, there is a need for shower chairs, extended tub benches, scales and electric lift chairs. To donate or volunteer, call Darlene Dohany at (724) 347-3605.
Free cancer supplies
CANFIELD -- The Mahoning Valley American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., state Route 46, has free supplies for cancer patients and their families in the Mahoning-Trumbull-Columbiana county area. Supplies include prosthesis, bras, bed pads, small disposable diapers, wigs, laryngectomy bibs and turbans. Call (330) 533-0546 for information.
Mobil medical clinic
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Elizabeth Health Center's mobil medical clinic will be at the Salvation Army Youngstown Citadel & amp; Worship Center, 1501 Glenwood Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday. A physician will provide check ups, cancer and blood pressure screening, sick visits, health information and referrals. Appointments are not necessary. Heart Center accredited
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Heart Center of Northeastern Ohio is one of the first nuclear cardiology and the first echocardiography laboratory in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties to receive accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories and the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories.
