AWARDS Junior Civic League holds annual scholarship brunch

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Junior Civic League held its annual scholarship brunch June 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Center.
Betty Bogan, president, served as toastmistress for the event that carried a theme of "Knowing Purpose to Fulfill Destiny."
The invocation and benediction were given by Elsina Winston, and Pamela Murrell, scholarship chairman, presented scholarships to the following high school graduates: Robin Williams, Eboni Dowdy, Jamie Adams and Marcus Johnson, Ursuline; Kourtny Howard, Mooney; Michael Alexander, Boardman; and Jonathan Imler, Chaney.
Others honored: Graduating seniors from high school and college who are children and grandchildren of league members also were recognized. They are: Courtney Dunlap, Salem High School; Franicka Morales, Ohio University; and Cryshanna Jackson, Miami University.
Guest speaker was Atty. Robert E. Bush Jr., Youngstown city law director, who was introduced by Phyllis Cross. Antoinette Smith gave recognition to members for volunteer service hours, and Darla Dunlap introduced new members. Remarks also were given by Felicia Moses, Miss Cinderella 2000.
Ms. Winston announced plans for the 2001 Cinderella Ball to be held Nov. 23 at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman. She is co-chairman of the event, and chairman is Ann Cobbin.
