Families seek donations for fire victims

SHARON, Pa. -- The families of Jimmy Neer and Lisa McKelvey, who lost nearly all of their possessions in a fire that did extensive damage to their home Wednesday, are seeking help to get the couple back on their feet.
Neer's sister-in-law, Joy Neer of Masury, said a trust fund has been established at First National Bank of Pennsylvania to accept donations.
Neer and McKelvey and their two young children narrowly escaped the 7 a.m. blaze by getting onto a small deck over the back porch, where rescuers were able to get them down with a ladder.
Damages are estimated at $40,000 and the family had no insurance.
Trust account: Kirk Sieg, manager of the First National Bank branch in downtown Sharon, said he has set up the trust account free of charge but the bank isn't accepting the contributions.
Those should be made out to "Rebuild the Neer Family Home" and mailed to Joy Neer at 566 Cleveland St., Masury 44438. She will make the deposits.
Only she, as the fund's treasurer, will be able to withdraw the money.
More information is available by contacting Joy Neer at (330) 448-1751.
