CIC's property committee handled these items Thursday:
Talked about the project to bring the 7th District Court of Appeals to the city hall annex after a CIC renovation. Mahoning County, which supplies space to the court, will give the city until July 30 to make up its mind on the project or pursue other options, said Charles Sammarone, CIC president. Council is awaiting the mayor's recommendation, said Sammarone, who also is city council president. Council expects to have a decision for the county by the deadline, he said.
Talked about maintaining CIC buildings that need work to keep items such as bricks from falling to the street. CIC has hired Terreri Construction on a month-to-month basis at $41 per hour to do maintenance. CIC estimates the need for about 20 hours of work a month. Terreri had the second-lowest price among the 16 companies solicited. The lowest company, ES & amp;C, had a slightly lower price but much less experience.
Talked about the damage done to most of the eight brick pillars around the Higbee parking lot that were knocked over last weekend by vandals. Also talked about how the parking lot has large sections of standing water that must be fixed.
Announced that environmental evaluations of all CIC buildings should be done by early July and the report available by mid-July.
Announced that the city will extend its facade program to downtown businesses. The money previously was reserved for businesses outside the central business district. The city has $130,000 available, with up to $10,000 for each project that qualifies.
