Man charged in assault of officer

SHARON, Pa. -- Police said a city code enforcement officer was attacked by the owner of an auto body shop at Budd and New Castle avenues as the officer tried to take pictures of the property.
Robert L. Pegues, 68, of Charles Street, Hermitage, was arrested at the scene at 9 a.m. Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned before District Justice James McMahon and freed on his own recognizance.
Police said Frank Smeraglia has filed code violations against Pegues' operation and went to the scene Wednesday morning to take photos for his court case. Police said Pegues confronted him and demanded the photos and when Smeraglia refused to hand them over, Pegues grabbed him by the neck and choked him.
