Champion school board sets an additional holiday

CHAMPION -- In compliance with a negotiated agreement, the board of education has set July 3 as an additional holiday for 12-month employees.
Elementary and middle school lunch prices, meanwhile, will increase with the start of the fall term for the first time in five or six years.
Both went up 10 cents, Central Elementary's to $1.50 and Champion Middle School to $1.75. Superintendent Pam Hood noted that high school prices remained the same because students mostly buy a la carte.
Hood noted the new lunch prices are in line with other districts.
The board authorized the Youngstown architectural firm of Ricciuti, Balog & amp; Partners to prepare drawings and specifications for bids for repair and or paving parking lots and driveways at all three school buildings.
The board approved the agreement between Champion School District and Trumbull County Educational Service Center for purchase of the technology curriculum management program, Teachmaster, for kindergarten through eighth grade at a cost $6,000.
The board also has approved replacement textbooks for the 2001/2002 school year for $16,900.
