AUCTIONS
XAmerican Legion Auxiliary Mahoning Valley Unit 15 will sponsor a breakfast and Chinese auction July 1 at the post home, 35 Cortland St., Poland. XCatholic Charities of the Pittsburgh Diocese will hold an art auction Tuesday at Shakespear's in Ellwood City, Pa. A silent auction will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and a live auction will begin at 7:30. Tickets are $20 per person and include hors d'oeuvres and beverages. CAR SHOWS
XJuly 4th Festivities Committee will sponsor its 15th annual car show Saturday in downtown Newton Falls. Registration from noon to 3 p.m. will precede the show scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. Parking will begin at 11 a.m. For information call Eric Workman, (330) 872-3187.
SALES
XFirst Assembly of God Church, 2300 Austinburg Road, Ashtabula, will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29 and 30. Space rental is available for $10 for both days. For information call the church office at (440) 275-7720.
XFranciscan Friars Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., will sponsor a flea market and bake sale Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
XFriends of the Main Library of Youngstown will hold its annual book sale July 5-7 at the library, corner of Wick and Rayen avenues. Preview night for members or for a $5 donation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. July 5. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 6 and 7. Paperback and hardback books in fiction, mystery, recipes, children and other topics are priced from a quarter to 50 cents with special books priced higher. Book donations are being accepted.

TOURS
XThe second annual Gardens of Canfield Tour and Lunch will be sponsored by the Welcome Wagon of Canfield from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The self-directed tour begins at the Canfield Green Gazebo and will feature six themed gardens. The cost is $10 per person and includes maps to garden sites, garden information booklets and a box lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Picnic table seating will be provided on the green. All proceeds will benefit local charities. Reservations are to be made in advance by calling (330) 533-2947.
