Board permits fence to ward off vandals

MINERAL RIDGE -- The Weathersfield Township Board of Zoning Appeals approved a zoning variance to permit construction of an 8-foot fence around Speciality Car Co., 3798 Main St.
Owner Jim Vargo told the board Thursday he wanted to construct an 8-foot fence instead of a 6-foot fence, which is what the zoning code allows, at the back of his property to stop vandalism and burglary.
The fence will not be visible from the road.
The board also approved a renewal of a conditional use permit by Lee Gibson to continue excavation at 2501 W. Liberty St. to permit Gibson to continue excavating dirt from the unimproved lot.
Gisbon sells the dirt to other companies who do the excavating, assistant township zoning inspector, Sherri Craver said.
