AUSTINTOWN DRUGS Judge rules in cases of 5 teens

One of the teens was suspended from high school before his arrest on drug charges.
AUSTINTOWN -- Five teens were sentenced this week on charges resulting from an investigation into drug trafficking and drug use at Fitch High School.
Each of the teens entered pleas at Mahoning County Juvenile Court and were sentenced by Judge Theresa Dellick. Juvenile court records did not state if they entered guilty pleas or no-contest pleas before they were found guilty by the judge.
Five in case: Those sentenced are:
UJoseph Vogt, 17, of Birch Trace Drive. Vogt had been charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, charges of possession of a dangerous drug, drug possession, altering the content of a controlled substance and criminal trespass. He entered pleas to three of the charges, while the other charges were dropped.
Vogt was given a suspended 90-day sentence in an Ohio Department of Youth Services facility for each of the three charges. He also was placed on probation and ordered to enter an outpatient drug treatment program.
UStuart Sanor, 17, of East Fifth Street, Beloit. Sanor entered a plea to a charge of complicity to traffic drugs. He was given a six-month suspended sentence in a state youth facility and probation.
Sanor and Vogt were arrested in late April at Fitch. Vogt reportedly had the prescription drugs Ritalin and Vioxx on him when he was arrested.
URobert Swope, 18, of Raccoon Road. He entered a plea to a charge of drug trafficking. He was given a six-month suspended sentence in a state youth facility, probation and ordered to take part in a rehabilitation program.
Swope had been expelled from Fitch before his arrest in late April.
UDanny Bounds Jr., 17, of Abbot Avenue. Bounds, a Fitch student, entered a plea to complicity to traffic in counterfeit substances. He was given a six-month suspended sentence in a state youth facility and probation.
Also arrested: Bounds and Fitch students Matthew Caroline, 17, of Ohltown Road, and Andrew Butz, 16, of South Inglewood Avenue, were arrested in late April at Fitch. The arrests stemmed from reported trafficking in the so-called party drug Ecstasy, a mind-altering drug with amphetaminelike and hallucinogenic properties.
Juvenile court records also show that a judgment entry was filed against Butz. He faced three counts of drug trafficking.
The records, however, do not include any details about the judgment.
Caroline, meanwhile, faces two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs. A hearing on the charges has been scheduled for June 26.
UDavid Sletvold, 18, of East Rockwell Road. Sletvold entered a plea to a charge of trafficking in drugs. He also was given a six-month suspended sentence in a state youth facility and probation.
Sletvold was arrested in early May along with Paul Groves, 20, of Innwood Drive, and Jeremy Cavender, 18, of Highmeadow Drive, Canfield, on charges stemming from reported trafficking in marijuana.
Cavender and Sletvold are both Fitch students who were arrested at Fitch. Groves was arrested at his home.
Cavender faces charges of trafficking in drugs. A pretrial hearing on the charges has been scheduled for Aug. 15 in juvenile court.
Groves faces charges of trafficking in marijuana. His trial is set to begin July 18 in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
