Governor names new YSU trustees



YOUNGSTOWN -- Gov. Bob Taft appointed an attorney and a student to the Youngstown State University board of trustees.
John L. Pogue of Warren was appointed for a nine-year term, ending May 1, 2010. He replaces Bruce R. Beeghly of Struthers, whose term expired.
Pogue is a partner in the Harrington, Hoppe & amp; Mitchell law firm in Warren. He received his bachelor of arts degree from DePauw University and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law.
Jeffrey J. Parks of Girard was appointed as the student representative to the YSU board for a term ending May 1, 2003. Parks replaces Kristin Serroka of Hubbard, whose term expired. Parks is a YSU junior majoring in political science.
The board has the power to hire, remove and fix the salary of YSU employees as it deems necessary and is empowered to do anything else necessary to ensure the continuous operation and maintenance of the school. Members are compensated for expenses only.
