Brookfield man convicted, awaits sentencing for bigamy

MERCER, Pa. -- An admitted bigamist from Brookfield could face up to two years in prison and a fine of $5,000.
Todd Jablon, 39, of Wyngate Manor Mobile Home Park, formerly of Sharpsville, pleaded guilty in Mercer County Common Pleas Court this week to one count of bigamy, a misdemeanor.
Authorities said he's had five wives in Ohio and Pennsylvania between 1993 and 2000, but divorced only one of them. Only one pressed charges.
His attorney, Norman Levine of New Castle, said he doesn't think Jablon intentionally tried to outwit the law or take anything from any of his wives.
The marriages were short and the couples went their own ways, he said.
Jablon was arrested in January after one of his wives filed a complaint with police.
He was freed on bond but faced trial this month in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on a single bigamy charge.
Robert Kochems, the assistant district attorney who prosecuted the case, said Levine indicated Jablon is in the process of getting divorces in Lawrence County from three of his wives.
Jablon will be sentenced at a later date, Kochems said.
