BOARD OF CONTROL Youngstown

The Youngstown Board of Control took the following action today:
Gave severance pay to four police officers: $12,443 to Det. Sgt. James Conroy, who resigned effected April 11; $2,519 to Police Officer Rebecca Heckel, who retired effective May 2; $6,030 to Police Officer Stanley Kaminski, who retired effective May 1; and $28,062 to Patrolman Rodney Bowyer, who retired effective June 1.Purchased a backhoe and a wheel loader for $99,775 for the water department from G-S Canfield Equipment of Canfield.Purchased 125 riot helmets for $12,376 from Pro-Tech Inc. of Cleveland for the police department.Agreed to pay $13,500 to the University of Akron Training Center for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice for basic police training for five new police officers.
