HUBBARD Library awards contracts for facility expansion, revamp

Work at the Hubbard Public Library will take about a year to complete.
HUBBARD -- The Hubbard Public Library awarded more than $1.1 million in contracts to remodel and expand the facility.
Ruth Mizik, library director, said Tuesday that work will begin this summer and take about a year to complete. The project was designed by Library Architects of Lakewood.
The contracts awarded by the library board went to the lowest bidders for the $1,123,519 project.
They are: Kreider Construction Co. of Poland, general contractor, $675,423; Komer Plumbing of Youngstown, $55,500; D & amp;G Mechanical of West Middlesex, Pa., heating, ventilation and air conditioning, $107,900; Penn-Ohio Electrical Co., $150,600; and Interior Wood Products of Cleveland, cabinetry, $134,096.
Mizik said between 5,000 and 6,000 square feet will be added to the West Liberty Street library with two-story additions on each end. The current 13,000 square feet will be remodeled.
The remodeling includes new heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical service and roof. Restrooms will be handicapped accessible.
A handicapped accessible elevator will be added to the elevator for access to the second floor.
The library will remain open during construction to provide as many services as possible, the director said, noting it will have to close periodically for the work.
