Residence: Ridge Crest Care Center, Warren.
Husband: Married Doyle Smith on June 11, 1948. He died in 1992 at 101 years of age.
Family: A sister, Wayma Green, lives in Warren. Six brothers and four sisters are deceased.
Background: Mrs. Smith received an undergraduate degree in elementary education at the Agricultural & amp; Mechanical University, Huntsville, Ala. She taught sixth grade in Birmingham schools until 1944. Mrs. Smith changed careers when she was 50 years old and went into nursing, retiring when she was 80. Mrs. Smith came to live at Ridge Crest when she was 101 years old and had been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and was given three months to live at that time. Mrs. Smith, who was the subject of a feature story in The Vindicator for her 106th birthday, also has been written about in other local publications. In The Vindicator story, Mrs. Smith credited her longevity to eating Total cereal for 50 years. General Mills, the cereal producer, promised her a lifetime supply and pledged $5,000 to A & amp;M every year for her birthday.

Hobbies: Reading, current events, sports, writing, poetry and singing.
Celebration: A party was held June 12 at the care center for family and friends.
