GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Greenville Area Leisure Services Association has reopened the application process in its search for a new executive director.
Peter D. Nicoloff Jr., president of GALSA's board of directors and borough manager, said Monday that the association was unable to close a deal with the top three candidates in the first application period, which attracted more than 50 candidates. The problem was salary, he said, declining to reveal the pay range GALSA is offering.
The board did narrow the list down to three people but couldn't finalize an agreement with any of them, he said.
The board will accept new applications now through June 30. Interviews will again be scheduled with top candidates, he said.
Requirements: Applicants must have a four-year degree in parks and recreation management or some type of four-year college degree with work experience related to parks and recreation management.
GALSA is seeking a successor to Robert M. Good, who held the job for 22 years. He resigned Jan. 31 to take a position with Pashek & amp; Associates of Pittsburgh, a recreational consulting company.
Nicoloff said there is no rush to find a successor. Good and his staff laid out the entire summer and fall programming before he left, and programs are running as scheduled, Nicoloff said.
The board hopes to have a successor named by the end of July, he said.
