MERCER COUNTY Three go to prison for assaulting man

The men had pleaded guilty to one of several charges against them.

MERCER, Pa. -- A judge in Mercer County Common Pleas Court has ordered three area men to spend time at Mercer County Jail.
Judge Thomas Dobson sentenced Lennie Harvey Jr., 19, whose address is Bob's Steel City Inn, Farrell, to from four months to a year and a half. That sentence is to be followed by one year probation.
Authorities said that Jan. 24 Harvey approached another man who was walking down an alley near Edgewood Avenue in Sharon. Police said Harvey, along with several other men, grabbed the man by the head, threw him to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched him.
Sharon police arrested Harvey Jan. 14 and charged him with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, robbery and conspiracy.
April 9 he pleaded guilty to attempted theft.
Authorities said Harvey told them the victim owed him money so he tried to get it from him. They said Harvey told them he and the other men left when they found that the victim had no money.
Jon Joseph Howell, 24, Sharpsville Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to nine months to a year and a half at the jail, followed by a year and a half probation.
Several offenses: Sharon police, who arrested him Aug. 31, said Howell took eight rifles from a residence on Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon that same day. They charged him with several offenses, including burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Feb. 6 he pleaded guilty to criminal trespass.
Timothy Holler, Irvine Avenue, Sharon, was ordered to spend 11 months to one year at the jail.
Hermitage police arrested Holler on Aug. 3 at the Starlite Inn, South Hermitage Road, Hermitage, and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
April 9 he pleaded guilty to possessing drug paraphernalia.
