HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The city will be recognized for its outstanding voter turnout when the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities has its 102nd convention in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Friday.
The Easton Voting Award, presented annually by the city of Easton, Pa., will be presented to Bill Scanlon, president of Hermitage Board of Commissioners, during the convention's general session. The award is given to a Pennsylvania Third Class city with the highest percentage of registered voter turnout for the November general election. Hermitage won the award for 2000 with a 71.9 percent turnout.
Scholarship donations
MONACA, Pa. -- eAutoboutique.com, a Web site for the purchase of pre-owned vehicles, will donate $50 to Penn State Beaver for each vehicle that is sold, university officials said. The site has offered to lend its support to Penn State Beaver's fund-raising campaign, which has a goal of $1.5 million. Proceeds will benefit student scholarships at the campus.

Officer treated
COITSVILLE -- A Campbell police officer was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center after he accidentally shot himself Saturday morning.
Reports say Daniel Raseta was participating in a training exercise at the Coitsville Firing Range on North Hubbard Road when he accidentally fired through his gun holster. The bullet reportedly traveled through his calf before hitting the floor.
No other injuries were reported.
Rabies clinic
GIRARD -- There will be a rabies vaccination clinic at the municipal building from 1 to 3 p.m. June 20. No appointment is necessary.
Trumbull County health regulations require all dogs, cats, ferrets, and 4-H animals to have a rabies vaccination.
The clinic is sponsored by the Trumbull County Veterinary Medical Association. Cost is $5 per pet. Make checks payable to T.C.V.M.A.
An adult, 18 or older, must present all animals with leash and collar, even if the pet is in a carrier.
Gypsy moths
WARREN -- State Rep. Anthony Latell of Girard, D-67th, will have a meeting at 11 a.m. June 22 in the Trumbull County Administrative Building concerning gypsy moths and suppression efforts in Trumbull County. Representatives from the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Forestry Service will answer questions.
