Boardman Library closes for repairs

BOARDMAN -- Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave., will be closed for emergency repairs to the front walkways and doors June 15-17.
Several bricks paving the walkway are loose or raised, causing the doors to scrape and creating a hazard for the approximately 20,000 library patrons who pass through those doors each month, said Janet S. Loew, communications and public relations director.
Because of the high volume of traffic at the library -- the branch is one of the busiest in the countywide system -- and an expected increase in library usage in connection with summer reading, Loew said repairs were scheduled as soon as possible.
Frontier Woodworking Co. of Youngstown is the contractor for the project, estimated to cost $22,614.
Although the library will be closed, its book drops will still be available for returning books. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. June 18. Other libraries in the system will not be affected.
