NILES Children's programs set at parks
The department offers tennis clinics, day camp and baseball instruction.
NILES -- The city's parks and recreation department is offering several programs for children this summer.
Tennis camp for children ages 7 to 15 starts Monday at the Stevens Park tennis courts.
Second through fifth grades will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with grades six through 10 from 11 a.m. to noon. Clinics will be geared to different ability levels.
Classes will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for six weeks.
The cost is $35, and participants may register at the parks and recreation office or at 9 a.m. Monday at Stevens Park.
Participants should bring their own racquet and a can of new tennis balls. A water bottle also is suggested.
Baseball: T.C. Ball is an instructional baseball program for children ages 6 to 12 who live in the city. The program begins Wednesday and runs from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Friday at Waddell Park for six weeks.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday at the main concession stand at Waddell Park.
The cost is $10 per player.
Also at Waddell Park, the parks and recreation department will offer summer day camp June 18 through June 22, July 9 through July 13 and Aug. 6 through Aug. 9.
The program is open to city residents ages 5 through 12.
