Summer Safety Day

Summer Safety Day
HOWLAND -- Interested adults can watch a dummy fly from a conveyor belt, as though it were flung from a car, or try on goggles that make them feel drunk, all in the name of safety.
Summer Safety Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Home Depot parking lot, will also include a bicycle helmet fitting and giveaway for children, bicycle rodeo and refreshments.
"We try to have something of interest for everyone in the family," said Kim Peters of Community Solutions, who administers a state grant that pays for part of the program.
Howland Fire Department will teach lessons in fire prevention, and specialists will inspect car seats to make sure they are correctly installed. To schedule a car seat inspection appointment, call (330) 856-5022. The flying dummy, called a "seat-belt convincer," and drunk goggles will be provided by Ohio State Highway Patrol.
