Work to begin on village intersection

LISBON -- Work is expected to begin next summer on an estimated $1.75 million project intended to improve safety at a village intersection.
The project will entail adding a center turning lane to state Route 45 near its intersection with Saltwell Road in a commercial district just north of the village.
Other improvements will include installing a traffic signal.
"There's been a lot of accidents at that location," Becky McCarty, ODOT spokeswoman, said of the need for the project.
Figures on the number of accidents weren't immediately available.
Funding for the project will come from the Federal Highway Administration.
Traffic will be maintained on state Route 45 while construction is under way. It's expected to take about a year to complete.
ODOT is holding a public meeting for input on the project. The session is set from 4 to 7 p.m. June 18 at village council chambers, 24 Nelson Ave.
