WARREN Drug mail leads to jail

WARREN -- A California man is in Trumbull County Jail in connection with a package of methamphetamine sent by mail to a Warren address.
Clyde Arnold Dooley, 35, of Ontario, Calif., pleaded guilty Monday to one count of felony possession of the drug, and to a charge of attempted tampering with evidence.
His plea avoided a trial set to start Monday, and Dooley waived his right to a pre-sentence investigation.
Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court sentenced him to one year for the possession charge and six months for attempted tampering.
Authorities say Dooley sent more than 30 grams of crystallized methamphetamine in an anonymous package by express mail from California to 41 Kings Drive in February.
A case is pending against Michael Fabian, a resident of the Kings Drive address, who was indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on complicity to trafficking, possession of the drug and tampering with evidence.
The federal Drug Enforcement Agency, the Warren police and the U.S. Postal Service acted on an anonymous tip and intercepted the package, replacing the drugs with sugar.
Authorities say both men were arrested locally after trying to flush the package's contents down the toilet.
