Art directory availablefrom state agency
COLUMBUS -- Ohio Arts Council's "Percent for Art Directory" is now available. The directory lists 80 locations where artwork has been acquired, commissioned and installed in new and renovated public buildings. That includes two places in Youngstown -- YSU Beeghly Hall atrium, where the aerial sculpture "Echoes" is on display, and at the front of YSU William Rayen College of Engineering and Technology, where the "Inner Circles" aluminum work is located.
Ohio's Percent for Art program began in 1990 in an effort to foster culture and support local artists and craftspeople. Every time the state legislature appropriates more than $4 million for a public building, 1 percent of that sum must be spent on artwork.
For a copy of the directory, send 80 cents in postage stamps (Ohio Arts Council will supply the return envelope) along with name and address to Ohio Arts Council, attn. Percent for Art Directory, 727 E. Main St., Columbus OH 43205-1796.

Dylan helps animals
Bob Dylan, who has just turned 60, has given one of his classic songs, "Shelter From the Storm," to World Wildlife Fund for use in a new public service announcement. It is the first time in his career that he has allowed his words and music to be used for charity. "Early on, animals were the only ones who liked my music," Dylan said. "Now it's payback time."
