Federation awardslocal scholarships
The Columbiana County Federation of Conservation Clubs recently awarded annual scholarships to area students.
Recipients of $1,000 college scholarships included Brad Thrasher of Wellsville, Jedidiah Coldwell of Salineville and Lisa Butch of Salem.
Thrasher, son of George and Victoria Thrasher, will be attending Ashland College or Mount Union College and majoring in biology.
Coldwell, son of Dave and Lisa Coldwell, attends Hocking Technical College majoring in forestry.
Butch, daughter of Tom and Sue Butch, attends Allegheny College and majors in environmental science.
The CCFCC awards $1,000 scholarships annual to area youth majoring in agriculture, biology, wildlife conservation, environmental science or other closely related fields of study.

Toll-free Lake Erieangling report available
SANDUSKY - A Lake Erie fishing report is available 24 hours a day by calling toll-free 1-888 HOOK FISH. The Lake Erie fishing report is made available by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.
The Lake Erie report, as well as reports from fishing locations across the state, can be obtained through the Internet by visiting www.dnr.state.oh.us .
Updated every Thursday, the Lake Erie fishing report includes information from the previous few days. Information may include current hot spots, most productive fishing methods and sizes of fish being caught for major fish species including walleye, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and steelhead trout.

COLUMBUS - Free Fishing Days in Ohio conclude . Ohio residents can fish in any public waters of the state without having to purchase a fishing license today only.
BOATING
Horsepower limits cutin wildlife areas
COLUMBUS - Lakes and other bodies of water in state wildlife areas are now limited to electric boat motors of four horsepower or less, according to revised regulations issued by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft.
In addition, waters located within the American Electric Power Recreation Area in eastern Ohio are now limited to boat motors of 10 horsepower or less. The revised rules for wildlife areas coincide with regulations already standardized by the Division of Wildlife.
Other revised or rescinded rules issued by the Division of Watercraft, include: The nighttime boat speed limit is reduced from 20 to 10 miles per hour on Berlin Reservoir in Mahoning, Portage and Stark counties. An amended rule for Berlin Reservoir also standardizes horsepower restrictions language and establishes certain boat restriction zones.
