Scrappers lose 5-4
Batavia scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, handing the Mahoning Valley Scrappers a 5-4 defeat in the New York-Penn League Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Scrappers' record to 5-11 and pushed them six games behind the Muckdogs (10-4) in the Pinckney-Stedler Division standings. In the loss Wednesday, Maximo Made hit a home run, his first of the season, a solo shot, for the Scrappers. John Van Every and Travis Santini added run-scoring singles.
Mahoning Valley and Batavia will conclude their four-game series tonight at 7 p.m. at Dwyer Stadium. The Scrappers will then head to Jamestown Friday to begin a four-game series against the Jammers, which concludes on Monday. Boxscores and New York-Penn League standings appear today on C5.
