WRESTLING J-Milton wins two matches in meet



WARREN -- The Jackson-Milton High wrestling team won a pair of matches in a three-team event Saturday at Warren JFK High.
The Bluejays (3-0) defeated Cleveland JFK 60-22 and Warren JFK 55-18.
Winning twice for Jackson-Milton were Rob Miller (112 pounds), Dan Baumgartner (125), Zack Kosa (130 and 135), Lee Keck (140), John Rozum (145), Kyle Vernon (160), Mike Theodore (171 and 189) and Chris Hallett (215).
Getting it done: Miller pinned David Armstrong of Cleveland JFK in 4 minutes, 26 seconds and won by forfeit against the Eagles.
Baumgartner won by forfeit against Cleveland JFK and pinned Warren JFK's Tom Gergley in 2:16.
Kosa pinned Cleveland JFK's Chris Smith in 1:26 at 130 pounds and recorded a major decision over Warren JFK's Matt Roby, 11-0, at 135.
Keck pinned Cleveland JFK's Erin Bullock in 1:13 and Warren JFK's Chris Bradley in 1:50.
Rozum won by forfeit against Cleveland JFK and decisioned Warren JFK's Sam Rathburn, 7-0.
Vernon pinned Cleveland JFK's Nate Johnson in 1:01 and Warren JFK's Justin Bryan in 46 seconds.
Theodore pinned Cleveland JFK's Devin Hunter in 1:52 at 171 and Warren JFK's Matt Barran in 4:27 at 189.
Hallett pinned Cleveland JFK's Clevon Kirklend in 2:31 and Warren JFK's A.J. Sefort in 18 seconds.
Kenston Tournament: CHAGRIN FALLS -- Canfield and Boardman participated in the tournament won by host Kenston with 213 1/2 points.
Canfield finished ninth with 86 1/2 points, while Boardman finished 11th with 67.
Seven wrestlers placed for the Cardinals. They were Steve DeMaiolo (fourth at 112 pounds), Klynt Maston (third at 125), Chris Pankewicz (fourth at 130), Steve Pitts (sixth at 145), Bob Brenner (fourth at 152), Jessie Tierney (sixth at 160) and Jarek Esarco (fifth at 189).
For Boardman, Willie Rosa (112) and Tony Stellato (119) each lost in the championship match. Rosa was beaten 12-3 by Beachwood's Jordan Lepp, while Stellato lost 18-1 to Kenston sophomore Rick Deubel, the defending Division II state champion who has yet to lose a high school match.
Jason Mechling also placed for the Spartans, finishing sixth at 215.
Brecksville Holiday Invitational: BRECKSVILLE -- Austintown Fitch wrestlers Joe Murray and Bryan Gray each placed in the event and the Falcons were 22nd of 42 teams.
Murray was fifth at 125 with a 6-2 decision over Mentor's Mike Jones, while Gray was third at 160 with a 3-1 overtime decision over Mayfield's Dylan Shamakian.
