SMALL COLLEGE ROUNDUP Prosser named MVP as Grove City wins title

Mount Union lost and Westminster won in holiday tournaments.
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Tournament-MVP Tanner Prosser scored just four points but handed out eight assists to lead the Grove City College men's basketball team to a 60-53 win over William Patterson (NJ) in the championship game of the Howard Johnson Holiday Classic.
Pat Roberts and Phil Bushre each had 14 points for Grove City (8-3).
William Patterson (5-6) got 12 points apiece from Dag Christensen and Rashaan Barner.
Steve Brooks had 24 points and Brian Schaefer scored 21 as Adrian (7-4) defeated Penn State Altoona (0-9) in overtime in the consolation game, 100-97.
Westminster 92, Concordia (Ill.) 78: DANVILLE, Ky. -- Rick Giordano, a 6-foot-4 junior from Neshannock High, scored a team-high 22 points for the Titans, in the consolation game of the Papa John's/Hampton Inn Tournament at Centre College. Greg Foster (Girard/Ursuline High) added 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for Westminster (6-5). Ryan Oman (Greenville) tossed in 13 points. Michael Kuderer scored 24 points for Concordia (3-8).
Hope College 69, Mount Union 43: HOLLAND, Mi. -- Don Overbeek scored 14 points while Chad Carlson and Mike VanHekken evenly split 26 more for the Flying Dutchmen (8-4) in the championship game of the 13th annual Russ Devette Holiday Classic.
Hope jumped out to a 31-16 lead at halftime. All-Tournament pick Todd Richards scored 10 points to pace the Purple Raiders (9-3).
Geneva College 85, LaRoche 56: BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Jerome Moss scored 29 points and Jeremiah Carlson came off the bench to score 12 more for Geneva (8-5).
Women: BETHANY, W.Va -- Liberty High graduate Kiki Cohen scored 10 points and Kelly Richardson scored 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Bethany (8-3) beat Ursuline College (1-9) 66-45.
Carnegie Mellon 60, Allegheny 56: MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Carissa Sain shot 8-for-18 from the field to score 24 points and she pulled in nine rebounds for the winners (7-2).
Jessica Kankoski had 26 points and 11 rebounds to pace Allegheny (5-4).
