The holiday journey includes light hors d'oeuvres, strolling musicians, concessions and surprises en route. The train will return to Durango just before midnight, in time for passengers to raise a glass in celebration of the New Year.
Passengers are encouraged to wear turn-of-the-century Western or Victorian attire. Cost is $75. For more information, call (970) 259-0274 or visit www.durangotrain.com on the Web.
Map company makesa guide to the rails
Even if they're driving, rail fans will appreciate a new map dedicated to tourist railroads and museums in North America.
The new railroad series is produced by Coop's Maps, a company that specializes in unusual map guides.
Previous titles include brewpubs, dinosaur sites, historic mission churches and volcanoes.
The map also includes static locomotive sites and model railroad clubs open to the public.

Heathrow Airport to add fifth terminal
Government transportation officials in England have approved a plan to add a fifth terminal at Heathrow International Airport but limited flights to 480,000, about 20,000 more than the airport handled last year. The airport is the world's busiest, and expanding airlines have trouble procuring slots for landing there.
Besides being a hub for international connections, Heathrow is in demand because it is the airport most convenient to London; a rail system whisks passengers to and from the city in about 15 minutes.
Before any work begins, a plan for diverting two rivers at the site must be approved.
Mexico online
Information on some of Mexico's top tourist destinations can be found through the Web site www.mexicolive.com, which just added links for Mexico City and Guadalajara.
Other sites include Cabo San Lucas, Puerta Vallarta, Cancun, Mazatlan and Acapulco.
