Pupils send cardsto military, rescuers
YOUNGSTOWN -- More than 800 military personnel and New York City rescue workers will receive holiday greetings from pupils at West Elementary School. The children wrote post cards offering encouragement, thanks and cheer to firefighters and police officers involved in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, soldiers stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and veterans at the Ohio Veterans Home.
Letter carrier Ron Chapman visited the school Wednesday to collect the post cards, which were provided by the Youngstown Post Office. The mail is expected to reach all of the recipients before Christmas.
