GIRLS BASKETBALL Bulldogs cruise to sixth win



Beaver Local started quickly in its win over Wilson.
POLAND -- Julia Gallo's 18 points Wednesday helped lead the Poland High girls basketball team to a 66-42 victory over Akron Springfield.
The Bulldogs (6-1) rushed out to a 23-8 lead in the first quarter and held a commanding 43-14 lead at halftime.
Kristy Gaudiose scored 17 points and Taryn Carlson finished with 13.
Stephanie Burns and Mary Vossberg led the Spartans with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Beaver Local 62, Wilson 26: YOUNGSTOWN -- Beaver Local (2-5) took a 24-4 lead in the first quarter and held a 56-19 margin at the end of the third period.
Sisters Rachel and Sara McCoy each scored 14 points for the Beavers, while Kristi Frampton added 10.
Althea Pearce and Ashley Moore scored eight points apiece for Wilson (0-8).
Lordstown 57, Southington 42: LORDSTOWN -- Emily Freudrenich triggered the Lordstown (2-5) attack with 19 points. Liz Allison chipped in with 10.
Emily Rech pulled down nine of the Red Devils' rebounds, while Natalie Bailey had three steals and two assists.
Lindsay Byer and Rachel Ullinskey paced the Wildcats with 10 points apiece.
