WARREN -- Police are continuing to investigate the homicide of a 26-year-old city woman.
Detective Jeff Hoolihan said Sara M. Campbell of Tod Avenue Southwest was shot once in the neck around 9:45 p.m. Saturday as she stood on the corner of Atlantic Street and Mercer Avenue N.E.
"We have no suspects in custody at this time and will continue interviewing witnesses this morning," Hoolihan said.
Witnesses' account: Police said that according to witnesses, Campbell was standing on the corner when a car drove up. Shortly after the car pulled up, witnesses heard a gunshot. The car then fled.
Witnesses did not see Campbell get shot.
Police are not releasing a description of the vehicle or what type of gun was used.
After the shooting, Campbell walked to a nearby home and asked a person at the house to call 911. Campbell was taken by ambulance to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and then transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where she died.
"We don't know at this time if an argument took place or what," Hoolihan said.
Because Campbell died in Mahoning County, an autopsy will be performed by the Mahoning County Coroner's office, police said.
Arrests: Campbell had been arrested by city police earlier this year.
According to Warren Municipal Court records, Campbell was arrested Oct. 12 on a charge of having drug paraphernalia. She had pleaded innocent and a trial was scheduled for Feb. 7.
Campbell also was arrested Nov. 18 on a charge of disorderly conduct. She pleaded no contest Dec. 5 and was found guilty. Records show she owes the court $145 in fines and costs.
Police said Campbell's murder marks the city's third homicide for the year.
