PREP GIRLS ROUNDUP Howland cruises easily against Wilson, 78-13



The unbeaten Tigers allowed just two points through three quarters in a 78-13 rout.
HOWLAND -- Through three quarters Thursday night, the Howland High girls basketball team allowed Wilson only two points as the Tigers rolled to a 78-13 victory.
The Tigers (3-0) took a 29-0 lead in the first quarter, held a 51-2 margin at intermission and they led 72-2 heading in the final quarter.
Marianne Krezeczowski led Howland with 28 points. Meredith Schneider and Kristina Ferenac chipped in with 14 and 12, respectively.
Lisbon 59, Lowellville 42: LISBON -- In the non-conference game, Lisbon (2-0) built a 32-18 lead by halftime and the Rockets weren't able to recover. Tina Huckshold paced the Blue Devils with 24 points and Mallory Smith added 11. Danielle Hvisday and Tami Nero led Lowellville with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Sebring 47, Jackson-Milton 42: SEBRING -- Sebring, down by four points at intermission, rallied in the second half to snap a two-game losing streak and post its first win of the season.
Kim Brunie sparked the Trojans with 21 points and she pulled down 12 of her team's 27 rebounds. Jessica Hemphill led the Bluejays with 11 points and she grabbed 12 rebounds.
Girard 58, Newton Falls 40: GIRARD -- Girard, behind 12-6 heading into the second quarter, broke away from Newton Falls as Jen Maravola hit a pair of 3-pointers, a basket and free throw as the Indians went on a 23-3 surge to lead 29-15 at halftime.
Maravola paced the Indians (4-0, 2-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference) with 18 points and she had five assists. Tealle Hunkus added 12 points and she grabbed 14 of her team's 36 rebounds.
Stephanie Scarnecchia, Cachet Murray and Kristen Ragozine, who had five steals, each had five assists.
Kellie Drake paced the Tigers (2-1, 1-1) with 14 points. Haley Lenarcic grabbed 11 rebounds.
Lordstown 55, Fairport Harbor 44: FAIRPORT -- Emily Freudenrich scored 26 points, with two assists and she pulled down 11 rebounds for Lordstown (1-2). Sarah Minor chipped in with 13 points, while Julie Thomas also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Sts. John & amp; Paul 55, Southington 44: ASHTABULA -- Becca Derr scored 20 points and Lindsay Byer added 10 in a losing cause for the Wildcats (0-3). Byer pulled down eight of Southington's 24 rebounds.
