Girard Herb Society elects officers, shares herbal foods

GIRARD -- Featured at the Nov. 20 meeting of Girard Herb Society was the election of officers for the coming year.
Chosen to head the organization were Karen Fletcher, president; Beth Monroe, vice president; Carol Popalas, secretary; and Fran Wilson, treasurer.
In charge of various activities will be Rayne Brubaker, education; Betty DePiero, special events; and Marie Borocz, JoAnne Stringer and Pat Tarajak, programs.
The speaker was Linda Bennett, who discussed health issues and the importance of the proper foods.
Among the herbal foods provided by members for sharing were lavender and lemon verbena cookies.
Plans were completed for a Christmas party to be held Dec. 18 at Vernon's Cafe and Banquet Centre in Niles.
