The scholarship event was established by Paul Maguire, a 1956 graduate and ESPN football analyst, who wanted to honor his former coach, Nick Johnson. Johnson's invaluable assistance helped Maguire receive a scholarship to The Citadel.
Maguire later went on to play in the NFL. Some previous Nick Johnson dinner guests were Rocky Bleier, Phil Simms, Ed O'Neill, Carmen Policy, Steve Tasker and Dante Lavelli.
The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets remain at $75.
Proceeds benefit the Nick Johnson Scholarship that has raised over $250,000 for young men and women to attend Ursuline High School. For the 2001-2002 school year, 36 Ursuline students each received a $500 scholarship in Nick Johnson's name.
