YSU NOTEBOOK From Stambaugh Stadium

Streak continues: Thursday night's crowd of 15,709 marked the ninth straight home game that the Penguins have drawn more than 15,000 fans. The last time YSU didn't have at least that many was against Southwest Missouri State in the 1999 regular season finale, when 13,322 attended.
Long dry spell: Senior Andre Coleman's fourth quarter kickoff return of 89 yards for a touchdown marked the first time in 11 seasons that YSU returned a kickoff for a score. They last one was by Archie Herring in 1990 when he returned one 83 yards against Liberty University.
Injury list: The Penguins played without three starters. Junior defensive tackle Matt Mechling (ribs), senior fullback Jerry Johnson (shoulder) and junior tailback Josiah Doby (shoulder) did not dress for the game. Junior tight end Dennis Dlugosz suffered a shoulder sprain in the first quarter and did not return to action.
Penalties costly: The Penguins were penalized nine times for 95 yards. Six of the penalties were for 10 yards or more. The most hurtful one was a holding call on a first-and-goal play from the Lock Haven 10.
Up next: The Penguins will be at home again next Saturday when they play host to Clarion University at 7 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium. Clarion dropped its season opener on Thursday to East Stroudsburg, 33-27.
