Opening day attendance

Opening day attendance
The fair's opening day attendance Wednesday was 32,181. This was the first time the fair was open for a full day on Wednesday since 1997.
Milking the cows
The moo juice is flowing at the fair. Howard Moff, fair board cattle director, said 139 cows go through the milking parlor twice a day. Fairgoers can observe the milking at 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. every day. The milking parlor is at the southern end of the fairgrounds.
Couple honored
Bill and Donna Fetty of North Jackson have been presented with a plaque commemorating their role in organizing the fair's steam engine show.
The Fettys have helped with the show for the past 21 years. They were presented with the plaque Thursday afternoon by Jim Brown, a fair board member and director of the steam engine show.
