HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER Cook's six goals spark Crestview



Chris Cook had too much offense for Campbell as Crestview rolled to a 10-1 win for its first victory.
CAMPBELL -- Chris Cook scored six goals and had two assists for Crestview, to lead the Rebels to a 10-1 win over Campbell Memorial Thursday in boys high school soccer.
Jacob Pruitt scored two more goals while Jonathan Kinkead and James Cook had one goal apiece, as Crestview (1-2) led 5-1 at the break. Jamiel Radman also had four assists.
For Campbell (2-2), Antonios Kanouras scored off an assist by Michael Trikos.
Warren JFK 3, Maplewood 0: Shawn Bean, John DeCristofaro and Brian Cullivan each scored a goal for Warren John F. Kennedy High Thursday in Warren.
Bean and Anthony Joseph each had an assist for the Eagles (2-0).
Freshman goalie Brian Wolnick had five saves and has two shutouts on the season for JFK.
Chaney 1, West Branch 1: YOUNGSTOWN -- Adam Garcia scored off an assist by David Golhke for the Cowboys (1-1-1).
West Branch led 1-0 until the final 15 minutes. Jake Schlosser scored an unassisted goal for the Warriors (0-1-1).
David Copanic of Chaney had 13 saves while Tom Arnett had seven saves for the Warriors.
Boardman 4, New Philadelphia 0: BOARDMAN -- Jamie Hay scored two goals to led the Spartans (2-0-1). Andy Good and Ryan Yosay added a goal apiece. Yosay and Ryan Ingram each had two assists, while Good and Matt Ausmann each had one. Chad Dixon, New Philadelphia goalie, had 14 saves.
Niles 4, Howland 3: NILES -- Donny Eckenrote had two goals while Brad McFadden and Kyle Barker had one each and Eric Faith an assist for Niles (2-1, 1-0 Metro Athletic Conference). Goalie Brett Gatta saved eight shots.
Francis Jennings, Amit Kovoor and Elliot Dansdale each had a goal and Jonathan Airchart saved seven shots for the Tigers (0-2-1, 0-1).
Girls: YOUNGSTOWN -- Brittny Humphrey scored three goals while Cindi Tochtenhagen, Melissa Klemann, Amy Banner and Abby Mirkin each had one goal, as Liberty (1-2) defeated Ashtabula Edgewood 7-1.
Banner assisted on two goals as the Leopards led 5-0 at the half. Rachael Tharp saved 17 shots for the Leopards.
Heather Clark scored for Edgewood.
Badger 1, Maplewood 0: MECCA -- Senior Jenny Place scored from about 15 yards away early in the second half for the Braves.
Jenn Letcher got the assist for the Braves (1-1).
Liz Smith had 11 saves for Badger.
The Rockets are 0-1-1.
Hubbard 3, Champion 0: WARREN -- Adrienne Wolf scored two goals and Jamie Duvall had the other for the Eagles (1-1, 1-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Anna Dejulio and Mary Newberry each had an assist as the Eagles opened a 3-0 lead at the half.
The Flashes are 1-1, 0-1.
Lynle Cornell had 12 saves for the Eagles.
Mooney 6, West Branch 1: BELOIT -- Katie Duracky collected four goals while Katie Vinopal and Amy Edwards each had a goal for the Cardinals (2-0).
Bobbi Cameron scored for the Warriors (0-3).
Edwards and Kacie Kubic each had an assist for Mooney. Adrianne DeTesco had 11 saves for Mooney.
