Rain postpones game against Auburn in fifth



The game will be completed Aug. 30 when the Scrappers play a two-game series at Auburn.
NILES -- The second game of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers series against the Auburn Doubledays was suspended by rain Monday night with the Scrappers trailing 4-3.
The game will be completed with the Scrappers batting in the bottom of the fifth inning on Aug. 30 when the Scrappers travel to Auburn for a two-game series.
Monday the Scrappers were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when Brian Kirby connected for a three-run home run to give the Scrappers a 3-2 lead.
Auburn came back and rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth to regain the lead. The game was suspended as the Scrappers prepared to bat in the fifth.
Marcos Mendoza pitched the first four and two-thirds innings for the Scrappers, but had some control problems walking five batters, two of those coming around to score.
Auburn's Steve Wood had an RBI double and Morrin Davis also doubled, for two of Auburn's three hits in the game.
