GROVE CITY, PA. Series of collisions leaves cop hurt

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a series of collisions on Interstate 79 Sunday that sent a state trooper to a local hospital.
Police said the four accidents occurred in fairly quick succession and the last three resulted when traffic failed to slow down for the first one.
It began at 3 p.m. when a SUV driven by Sidney E. Freeman, 51, of Erie suddenly switched lanes as it traveled north on I-79 in Springfield Township in a heavy rainstorm. Freeman pulled into the path of a car driven by Jeffrey W. Lane, 52, also of Erie, police said.
Neither driver was hurt but the crash caused following traffic to come to a stop.
Additional accidents: Police said that's when a car driven by H.L. Bullman of Stoneboro rear-ended a car driven by J.L. Waibel of Orchard Park, N.Y., pushing it into the rear of a car driven by K.L. O'Brien of Queenanne, Md.
Again, none of the drivers was injured, police said.
Seconds later, police said a pickup truck driven by Francis Sharlow, 67, of Pittsburgh, rear-ended a car driven by Melissa Mott, 25, of Conneaut, Ohio. Neither driver was hurt.
Several minutes later, a car driven by Olushola A. Adeyeye of Pittsburgh swerved to miss another vehicle, slid across the road and slammed into a state police car occupied by Trooper Paul France. The impact pushed the cruiser into the rear of a pickup truck driven by Edward Kaczanoski of Bethel Park, Pa.
Police said the cruiser and Kaczanoski's truck were both off the road at the time and the cruiser had its red light and flashers activated.
France was treated at United Community Hospital. Kaczanoski complained of pain but wasn't treated. Adeyeye wasn't injured, police said. No charges have been filed.
