CANFIELD -- Nine teens, including Canfield High School athletes, have been cited on charges related to underage drinking as a result of a party on Barbcliff Drive.
Two of the teens, Julie Pakula, 19, and Mark Pakula, 18, both of Barbcliff Drive, were cited to Canfield mayor's court for permitting underage consumption.
Both pleaded innocent last Monday and are scheduled to appear again next Monday.
The rest were cited to Mahoning County Juvenile Court for underage consumption.
Six of the teens are from Canfield; one is from Youngstown.
Five of the Canfield teens are teammates with Mark Pakula on Canfield's varsity boys soccer team. All have been suspended for 20 percent of the soccer season, as per school policy.
Police cited the teens after responding to an early morning report of loud noise earlier this month at a Barbcliff Drive home.
When police arrived at the home, they spoke to the Pakula siblings, both of whom said they lived at the home and were having a party. Their parents were not home and will not be charged.
What police found: Police say they found two beer kegs and several empty beer cans scattered throughout the back yard. Vomit was seen on nearby bushes and the sidewalk. Two male teens were passed out in a hammock on the front porch of the home.
One of the two teens in the hammock went into the house after he was awakened by police. He was later found hiding in an upstairs bedroom.
Breath tests given to the two teens showed that they had been drinking.
Police then went into the house, where they asked five teens to line up on the back porch. Each was given a breath test, which showed they had been drinking.
Police called the parents of each of the teens.
All but one teen were picked up by a parent. The mother of that teen told police her daughter could stay at the home.
Canfield Police Chief David Blystone said none of the parents of the teens knew that their children were drinking, and as a result, the parents were not charged.
