KSU ASHTABULA Author will speak about racial issues on Sept. 14

ASHTABULA --Kent State University Ashtabula Campus plans a colloquium on race and diversity, to feature David Shipler, author of "A Country of Strangers: Blacks and Whites in America."
The colloquium will be from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14., and Shipler will deliver the keynote address at 3 p.m.
Shipler's book, "Arab and Jew: Wounded Spirits in a Promised Land," won a Pulitzer Prize in 1986. He also penned "Broken Idols, Solemn Dreams," a work that was named the best book on foreign affairs in 1983.
The former senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace also was a correspondent for the New York Times.
