COMMUNITY SERVICE
CANFIELD -- Amber Wallace of Warren has been promoted to assistant executive director of the Mahoning Valley American Cancer Society. She had been area director for the Trumbull and Columbiana units and has been with the Cancer Society for more than nine years. She has been closely involved with the agency's Relay for Life events, which raised more than $580,000 in 2001. Wallace has a bachelor's degree in organizational communications from Youngstown State University.
RECREATION
BOARDMAN -- George Hendricks is the new manager of the Boardman Fred Astaire Dance Studio. Hendricks is a certified adjudicator who has been judging national and regional dance competitions for more than 30 years, and he has served as presiding judge several times for the United States ballroom dance championships. A former U.S. Professional Champion in the American smooth and theatrical divisions, he is also a certified examiner for students and teachers. He will continue as a teacher and coach of students and professionals at the studio.

AUSTINTOWN -- Marcus Thomas LLC, an advertising and public relations agency with offices in Cleveland and Austintown, has opened a human resources office and expanded its public relations division with the hiring of three new employees.
Lori Wilden is the agency's first human resources manager, coming to the company from Third Federal Savings and Things Remembered. She has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Westminster College.
Christina Gurnak is a new project manager in the public relations division. She has a degree in public relations from Kent State University.
Lisa Perkins is a project manager and writer, also in public relations. She has a degree in philosophy from the College of Wooster.
SHARON -- Rick Magyan, who until recently worked for a large Philadelphia advertising agency, has joined Winner Advertising as creative director. Magyan has more than 20 years experience in the advertising and communications industries.
FINANCE
CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Financial Group has hired Struthers native Mark Annichine as a financial planner. Annichine came to the company from Northwestern Mutual in Cleveland. He has a bachelor's degree in communications and business from John Carroll University.
