MAHONING VALLEY Planned Parenthood opens Warren center

Hours and services of operation will be expanded.
WARREN -- Planned Parenthood of Mahoning Valley will have a grand opening at its new Warren Health Center, 1353 E. Market St., at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The center, now on the third floor of the Western Reserve Professional Building, was formerly at 418 Main Ave. S.W.
The new facility is larger and has allowed the expansion of services and hours, said Karen Hackenberry, CEO/president.
Warren Mayor Henry Angelo will cut a ceremonial ribbon at 4 p.m., and tours and refreshments will be available until 6 p.m.
Peggy Waechter is manager of the Warren Center.
Hackenberry said the center accepts patients in need of women's health care, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screening and testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
Plans are being made to offer testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections in men within the next year, she said.
Most fees are based on a sliding scale according to income and family size. PPMV also accepts private insurance.
Planned Parenthood also operates health centers in Youngstown, 77 E. Midlothian Blvd., and in Columbiana County, Ogilvie Square East, 15549 state Route 170, Calcutta.
The three centers serve about 6,200 patients a year.
