Sale seeking donations
YOUNGSTOWN -- Donations for a "Trash 'n Treasure" rummage sale at Youngstown Playhouse will be accepted through Thursday. The sale will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Playhouse, which is off Glenwood Avenue. An early bird shopping spree, from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, will cost $5.
A bake sale and carwash by the Playhouse Youth Board will coincide with the sale.
hGlenn Miller tribute
YOUNGSTOWN -- "A Tribute to the Music of Glenn Miller," a concert by John Trapani Big Band, will be performed in celebration of Stambaugh Auditorium's 75th anniversary. The benefit show will be at 8 p.m. Sept. 7 in the hall, 1000 Fifth Ave.
Trapani's show has been a tradition for 20 years at Canton Palace Theatre, which is being renovated.
Trapani will lead musicians through original arrangements of Miller's music during the first half of the show. Vocalists Wendy Lloyd and Don Dasco will join the band for a salute to various stars, including Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and Natalie Cole.
Proceeds will go to Stambaugh Pillars, which supports preservation of the auditorium, and Crime Stoppers of Mahoning County.

No driving for Clark
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Country singer Terri Clark lost her license to drive for a year and got six months' probation after pleading guilty last week to reckless driving.
The probation was part of a plea bargain to reduce the charge from drunken driving. Her license was suspended because she refused to take a blood-alcohol test.
Clark, 33, was stopped for speeding May 2. The police officer said she had glassy eyes, was very talkative and had a hard time keeping her balance.
Clark said she was driving home from a business meeting, and had had "some alcohol" with her dinner. She denied being impaired, and said she refused to take the blood-alcohol test on the advice of an attorney friend.
Clark, a Quebec native, has scored hits with "A Little Gasoline" and "Better Things to Do."
